Chinese Mutual Aid Association

CMAA clients, students, and staff plan on participating in a rally at Thompson Center tomorrow, protesting Illinois legislature's recent budget cuts that would cut 50% of the social service programs the state provides.

On Thursday, June 4th 2009, the CMAA Golden Age Club will be visiting the Museum of Science and Industry in conjunction with senior groups from Schneider and David Behrman apartments, followed by lunch at a Chinese buffet.

On Thursday, June 4, CMAA Social Service Department representatives will join other Cook County agencies in the 2009 Low-income Housing Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) conference, hosted by the Community Economic Development Association (CEDA). CMAA staff will participate in training workshops concerning community service and diversity.

At the Chinese Mutual Aid Association on Saturday, June 20th, 2009, immigration attorneys from DePaul Legal Clinic will present on the qualifications for fee waivers for Citizenship applications and the issues involved in petitioning for family members from individuals' home countries. This two-hour workshop will take place between 10:00 am and 12:00 pm.

On April 25th, 2009, Chinese Mutual Aid Association, in partnership with the Bosnian-Herzegovinian American Cultural Center, Cambodian Association of Illinois, Ethiopian Community Association of Illinois, and the Lao American Community Services Center, held a Citizenship and Immigration Workshop.

CMAA and the UIC School of Medicine will hold a free health fair on Saturday, March 14th, 2009 from 12:00 pm until 5:00pm. Clients may have their cholesterol levels, glucose levels, bone density, blood pressure, and vision tested. Screeners from UIC's School of Medicine will also provide neurological, heart, lung, eye, ear, nose, and throat check-ups.
