2015 Duc Huang Founder's Award for Immigrant Success

As managing partner of his namesake accounting firm with six partners and a staff of 43 professionals, Edilberto Ortiz manages day-to-day operations, including budgeting, human resources, quality control and practice development. The company was started in 1974 and continued as a sole proprietorship until 2003, when it was restructured as a limited liability partnership. It is one of the largest minority-owned firms in the area, serving government as well as closely held businesses. Ortiz has mentored students and young accounting professionals and worked to provide internships and scholarships for undergraduates. Under Ortiz’s leadership, the firm has participated in the Junior Achievement annual financial literacy program at Chicago Public Schools. He’s a member of the Illinois CPA Society’s political action committee.
