Steve is the Lead ESL Teacher at CMAA, where he serves as a coach and mentor for internal instructors and those from partner institutions. He works in expanding professional development opportunities for instructors of limited English proficient (LEP) adult learners through activities like classroom observations, round table discussions, and programming for CMAA's Professional Development Institute. Additionally, Steve teaches various Adult Education classes, including ESL, ABE English Language Arts, and Citizenship.

Steve has extensive experience in the field of education, where he has held positions as an ESOL Resource Teacher at the secondary level and as a university English-language instructor at the post-secondary level, including nearly a decade overseas teaching at a Japanese university. In addition, Steve has performed program and policy work within the government and non-profit sectors. While originally from Tampa, Florida, he has called Chicago home since 2013. Apart from English, Steve is also proficient in Spanish and possesses a working knowledge of Japanese.
